The Vision of Middle School 308, The Bronx Dance Academy, is to teach concepts and content in ways that make learning meaningful and interesting and to encourage students to apply the skills they’ve learned in real-life contexts. Our primary goal is to assist students in becoming self-directed learners who are able to demonstrate, articulate and apply skills they have learned.
We are a school-community that sets and maintains high academic standards and expectations for every child. Teachers will be supported by the administrative team and it is their role to build on prior knowledge, life experience and interest to achieve learning goals for all students. Teacher’s reflect on their teaching practices and actively engage in purposeful learning activities that encourage constructive interaction among students. Teachers at BDA maintain a safe learning environment in which all students are treated fairly and respectfully. We embrace parents as partners and share leadership to enrich our school community. Our goal is for teachers, staff, parents, and students to view themselves as a philosophy provides the foundation for our learning community to grow and succeed.
Our missions at the Bronx Dance Academy School, is to provide a comprehensive and nurturing learning environment where students excel. Our focus is on raising student achievement by infusing the arts into the school’s entire curriculum. Dancing and the visual arts are an important part of the fabric of our school. Staff and parents work collaboratively, to improve the quality of standards-based instruction, while respecting the diversity of our school community.
At Bronx dance academy we are preparing leaders for college and career through a rigorous thematic curriculum, the preforming arts, and embedded technology. Teachers will deepen their knowledge of mathematical concepts and reading comprehension across all content areas. We will regularly assess student progress throughout the year in math, reading and writing using student data.
