What is it?
The DOE provides busing to middle school students whose Individual Education Programs include this service, or to other students with disabilities who cannot take public transportation.
Most students with IEPs travel to and from school in the same manner as students without IEPs.
However, an IEP team may recommend specialized transportation for children whose documented needs affect their ability to travel to or from school.
The addition of transportation services to a student's requires recommendation from the child's medical provider due to a students' emotional, behavioral, cognitive, communication, physical, or medical needs.

OMNY Card eligibility is based on a student’s grade level, walking distance between home and school, and existing accommodations based on a medical condition, housing status, or safety assessment.
